Recessive Traits

RECOMMENDATIONS TO BREEDERS

Note that all candidate calves have been tested for Congenital pseudomyotonia (Chianina, Marchigiana and Romagnola), for foetal icthyosis (Chianina, Marchigiana and Romagnola) and Paunch calf syndrome (Romagnola) prior to entering the Genetic Centre and any carriers of the mutation are excluded from performance tests. When purchasing untested breeders from the Genetic Centre, we strongly recommend requesting a foetal icthyosis test in order to guarantee your farm and protect the breed.

For information on methods for carrying out tests contact ANABIC.

ATTENTION: As this is a hereditary disease of a recessive autosomal nature, the fact that a bull is identified as a carrier does not necessarily mean that its offspring will be affected or in turn carriers. For further information or clarification contact our offices.

Limitation of Liability
The test for Congenital pseudomyotonia is performed using the currently available methods. The laboratories do not exclude the possibility of error because, for example, there is the possibility that new unknown DNA mutations can cause the disease. Therefore the laboratories does not ensure the absolute accuracy of results and assumes no liability for any damage resulting from incorrect results of the tests.
Similarly ANABIC disclaims all liability for damages that might occur due to incorrect results.
