The Fourth World Congress of Italian Beef Breeds

Organized in the lovely town of Gubbio (Perugia), from 29 April through 1 May 2005, the Fourth World Congress of Italian Beef Breeds intends to be a major technical-scientific event and a special occasion for discussion and reflection for those who are interested in the Italian Beef Breeds. The main topics covered during the Congress will concern the development situation and prospects of the Italian breeds in Italy and throughout the world; the scientific sessions will be devoted to genetics and improvement, production and management techniques, and quality and the market. The programme also features numerous side activities: the presentation of prized breeding animals, tastings of beef from Italian breeds and other quality food productions, the showing of typical products, tours to the main livestock breeding zones, and guided tours through the picturesque towns of Umbria.

The event is encountering widespread interest in both Italy and abroad and, bearing witness to the great attention enjoyed by these breeds today, over 100 papers have been sent in by numerous qualified Italian and foreign scientific institutes. There have also been numerous contacts with technicians and breeders, both Italian and from abroad (Sweden, Holland, England, Ireland, Hungary, Albania, South Africa, the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Australia), who are planning on being present at the event.
