The Association
Founded
in 1961 and legally recognized in 1966, the National Association of Italian Beef-Cattle
Breeders (ANABIC) was estabilished to promote and implement all types of initiatives
aimed towards improving, developing, ad spreading the autochthonous Italian cattle
breeds: Marchigiana, Chianina, Romagnola, Maremmana and Podolica. ANABIC, which
came about by merging the prevously existing individual National Breed Associations,
has taken on their responsabilities as far as selection is concerned and has set
up a single National Herd Book for the Italian beef-cattle breeds. In addition
to its main activity focusing on genetic improvement, the Association also carries
out numerous promotional initiatives, publishes and distributes trade journals,
collaborates with competent government bodies and university-level institutes
on research and test programs, and offers technical assistance to international
operators involved in raising the italian breeds.ANABIC headquarters are located
in San Martino in Colle, a town situated int peaceful Umbrian countryside just
8 kilometres away from the city of Perugia.
