The Breeders' Organization

During the Sixties, the Ministry of Agriulture made the Breeders' Organization responsible for conducting selection activity and it mantained general policy and supervisory functions.

In particular, the National Breed Associations were given the task of setting up and keeping track of the Herd Books.

Consequently, ANABIC established the National Italian Beef Cattle Herd Book, and its regulations were approved in 1969.

In carrying out its activities, ANABIC collaborates with the Italian Breeders' Association (AIA), in which it belongs. This association's responsabilities include recording cattle productivity.

On a provincial level, the activities connected with the selection work are carried out by the Provincial Breeders' Association (APA). Within their respective territories, the Provincial Breeders' Associations take care of the Herd Books, perform productive and reproductive checks on livestock and offer technical assistance to the breeders who belong to the provincial organizatione.

Currently 43 Provincial Breeders' Associations forma 14 Italian regions are operating as members of ANABIC.
